Kathmandu: Nepal has entered the rapidly growing short-video industry with the launch of Avyan, a homegrown digital platform designed to provide Nepali content creators with greater visibility, easier monetization opportunities, and direct earnings through local payment systems.
Developed by Invaito Technologies Pvt. Ltd., established on July 8, 2020, Avyan seeks to address the challenges many Nepali creators face on global platforms such as TikTok, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, where creators often compete against billions of videos worldwide for audience attention.
According to the company, Avyan has been designed specifically for Nepal’s digital ecosystem, focusing on local audiences, regional languages, and Nepali content trends. Its recommendation system prioritizes domestic creators, allowing emerging talents to reach viewers more quickly than on international platforms.
One of the platform’s key features is its monetization model. Unlike many international social media services that require creators to meet high follower counts or watch-time thresholds before becoming eligible for earnings, Avyan states that eligible creators can begin earning through qualifying video views, audience engagement, referral programs, and additional creator reward schemes designed for beginners.
The platform also emphasizes compatibility with Nepal’s internet infrastructure. It includes data-saving technology and smart video compression to ensure smoother streaming on budget smartphones and slower mobile networks, making the service more accessible to users across the country.
Beyond video sharing, Avyan offers a range of creator tools, including an integrated editing suite featuring AutoCut, Beat Sync, AR beauty filters, trending Nepali music, Stories, photo posts, livestreaming, and an analytics dashboard that enables creators to monitor audience performance. Early adopters are also eligible to receive a permanent “Founding Creator” badge in recognition of joining the platform during its initial growth phase.
A significant feature highlighted by the company is its localized payment system. Creator earnings can be withdrawn directly to Nepali payment channels, helping users receive payments in Nepalese rupees without relying on foreign payment processors or currency conversions. Current and planned payout options include eSewa, bank transfers, Khalti, and IME Pay.
The company says the initiative aims to strengthen Nepal’s digital creator economy by providing local creators with opportunities to build audiences and generate income while keeping financial transactions within the country’s payment ecosystem.
